The first section of the Greenway opened in 1992. It consists of a 1 ½-mile paved loop trail adjacent to the Naples Municipal Airport and along the eastern edge of the river. Currently, this area is closed for removal of invasive plant species, including Australian pine. When it reopens, parking is available in a handicap-accessible lot on North Road, on the western side of the airport.
The next section of the Greenway, starting at Golden Gate Parkway and going south past the Conservancy and the Zoo, is in the planning and development phase now.
